Brides have been slowly walking away from traditional white wedding gowns and princess style headpieces.  The same goes for wedding hairstyles.  About a decade ago, a majority of brides had undo for her special day.  Ten years later, Brides are stepping over the boundary and becoming a little more creative.  A Bride’s wedding hairstyle now depends on the shape of her face and headpiece. 

If you can’t decide which hairstyle to go with, having your hair down and curled is the safest way to go.  I recommend you playing around with your hair and taking pictures of yourself to see what you think looks best.  Sometimes, what you see in person is not what you get in pictures.  Typically a Bride with a round face looks best with her hair down.  It gives a slimmer appearance. 

It is still okay to have a updo hairstyle if that is your preference, but compared to ten years ago, brides shouldn’t pull her hair back too tight.  Loosen the buns and add soft accessories like silk flowers or even a flower bird-cage veil. 

Winter is right around the corner and many brides are still wondering what are some popular wedding colors for the season.  Well, the first color is dark blue.  Mix it with ivory/cream and you will get the perfect combination of elegance.  This color combination goes well with a flowing long bridal gown.

If you are looking for a more fun and edgy color for the winter, then try dark red.  You can still add that classic elegant look with ivory pearls while still looking amazingly sexy.  For more fun look, this color matches well with a knee-length bridal dress.

Some dogs are just more than pets, they are man and woman’s best friend.  Therefore, they deserve to be a big part of your special day also.  With a few simple accessories like ribbon bow ties or lace embellished dresses, one of your favorite member of the family can also look stunning on the big day.

It’s not only the Bride who has to look beautiful on her wedding day.  There’s still the groom, bridesmaid, mother of the bride and of course the flower girl.  With all eyes on the flower girl, she’ll want to look a little extra pretty that day also.  So maybe you can add a little accent to her dress.  It’s really simple and doesn’t require much.  Sometimes all it takes it a matching sash using double face satin ribbon.

If you plan on sewing a dress from scratch, then maybe you might want to think about adding a little bit of lace trimming.  Jona from Stop Staring and Start Sewing blog had some lace trimming on the dress she made in the image above.

f you’re having a difficult time deciding on the perfect wedding gown, then why not go for a timeless style.   Like the infamous, “Little black dress”, certain wedding gowns can also be timeless.  My advice is to go for the classic lace wedding gown.  Lace wedding gowns are one of those very few timeless designs that can be both elegant and modern.  If you choose a tight fit long gown, you’ll get the elegant classic look.  If you choose a shorter dress, you’ll get the modern look. 

It’s not always necessary that your entire gown has to be covered with lace.  You can also get a simple gown and embellish the bottom with floral lace.  There are so many things you can do if you decide to design a lace gown yourself.  I’ve post some images for samples.  All you need is a little creativity and some lace trimming. 

It’s time to put the bouquet, ring bearer pillow and bridesmaid sash on hold.  We can’t forget that a wedding is to celebrate the love of two people.  So let’s not forget the groom and the groomsmen. 

 As recommended by Martha Stewart Weddings, you can use various trimmings to create a stylish boutonniere for the groom and his friends.  Using pleated ribbons, leather flowers, satin ribbons and various embellish, you can easily create your own handcrafted boutonniere.

Are you having a difficult time deciding on a “Thank you” gift for your bridesmaid?  If you do, then I might have a solution for you.  You can hand make a Swarovski bracelet.  All you need is 5mm beading elastic, beading needle, and 30 pieces of 8mm x 6mm Swarovski sew-on jewels.  The instruction is pretty easy too.  Add the elastic to the needle and then add the sew-on jewels according to any pattern you like.  Once you’re done, tie the end.  Your bracelet is now ready to be wrapped up. 

Is your wedding on the way and you’re still not sure what accessories you might need?  Here are some simple tips that you can use for your upcoming wedding.  If you’re planning on having an outdoor wedding, try wearing a plain white knee length dress.  Embellish it with rhinestones trims to give it that extra touch. 

For shoes, use silver flats and accent it with rhinestone buttons.  It’ll help flatter your dress.   This season it’s okay to use both combinations of light gold and silver together.  Nothing is too daring.  Relax and enjoy your special day.

When it comes to wedding planning, typically the first thing that runs through a Bride’s mind is, “What is going to be my color scheme”.  This is a good start to planning your big day as the rest of the planning will revolve around the color schemes you choose.   

 The colors of your bridesmaid dresses will also be determined by the color palettes you choose.   So start imagining what your bridesmaid will look like in certain colors.  Some people look better in lighter colors and some in darker colors.  To give you some ideas, I posted up some popular colors that other Brides have used.  Try asking your bridesmaid what colors they like also.  They might think of some colors you didn’t think of.  Good luck.

I’ll let you in on some details of the event.  Every year in early April, New York Weddings magazine host a luxury wedding showcase.  Only the best of the wedding industry are invited to exhibit at the showcase. 

Last night, over 700 brides attend the show from 5-8.  The location was great; which was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Midtown.  It wasn’t overly crowded and the event planners did a great job keeping things organized.  There were plentiful of raffles going on, from winning a custom headpiece from M&J Trimming to free photography from various professional photographers.
